In June 2025, we held our second in-person meeting with the partners of the SAFE AND STRONG project. The meeting began with a recap of previous discussions and project objectives, focusing on developing guidelines for safe Body Weight Regulation in judo and the outcomes we aim to achieve.
We then held a brainstorming session to identify key topics for the upcoming seminars for parents, coaches, and athletes, scheduled after the completion of the eBook. Special attention was given to the risks of unsafe weight loss practices and the nutritional and recovery needs of injured athletes.
One of the highlights was the testimony of South African coach Anastasia Alexandra Nenova, who shared her personal experience and emphasized the importance of professional guidance in weight management. Partners also discussed promotional activities, including short social media videos, a support letter, and interviews with Olympic champions sharing their experiences with weight management.
The project continues to focus on raising awareness, education, and promoting safe practices to improve conditions for young judo athletes.
